Bluenose Inn

Bar Harbor, Maine

Our Rating

Bluenose Inn overlooks Frenchman Bay on Mt Desert Island, nestled on top of a granite terraced hillside.

The original building was built in 1884 as a summer cottage for the artist William Morris Hunt's widow, which she named Mizzentop.  These days Mizzentop houses the reception, gift shop, Great Room piano lounge and fifty two luxurious guest rooms, while a second building, Stenna Nordica, has fourty five elegant rooms and a glass elevator, and the third building accommodates the indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and fitness centre.  The grounds feature an outdoor pool, winding paths through beautiful gardens, and amazing views of the Bay.

Mizzentop Guestrooms - The rooms in Mizzentop are the most deluxe at Bluenose Inn being oversized and plush.  King, queen and two queen bedded rooms are available and amenities include a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, mini-refrigerator, 42" LCD HDTV and bathrobes.  Most rooms have a fireplace and balcony with great views of Frenchman Bay.

Mizzentop Suites - Newly renovated, these two room suites offer a living area with fireplace and a king size bed in the bedroom.  Both rooms have 42" flat screen TVs, amenities as described above, and the suites afford fantastic Bay vistas.

Stenna Nordica - Well appointed rooms, most of which have views over Frenchman Bay, and guests can choose a king, queen, or double queen bedded rooms.  Many rooms have a Tempur Pedic bed and several king bedded rooms have relaxing massage chairs.  Amenities are as the Mizzentop rooms and all rooms have access to a shared balcony equipped with deck chairs.
