Seattle’s only waterfront hotel, the Edgewater is a curious looking building which sits on a pier jutting out into the harbour affording it great views over Puget Sound to the islands beyond. It was built for the 1962 World Fair and is now a Seattle landmark and is famous for hosting world renowned rock stars at its Six Seven Lounge. The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Ozzy Osborne, Blondie and REM are just some of the mega stars that have played there. The Beatles, Led Zepellin and Kiss have all actually stayed at the hotel. Sitting in Six Seven, one of Seattle’s best restaurants, is an absolute pleasure. Watch the many ferries and yachts whilst you feast. The bar also faces west over the water so you get spectacular sunsets to accompany your cocktails - as well as of course live music acts every weekend.
The rooms and suites all have cosy warm colours, pine furnishings, European-style spa bathroom with glass encased shower complete with a yellow rubber duck! The bedrooms overlook either the city or Puget Sound. The standard rooms are fairly compact but the deluxe rooms are generously sized. There are some enormous suites including one used by the Beatles. Aside from the designer lighting and white glass, the suite has a photo gallery of the Fab Four in their early years, including the famous “fishing out the window” photo - shot in the suite during their first world tour.
