In the "1000 places to see before you die" book, the Soniat House, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, was created with love by Rodney and Frances Smith. An unusual hotel, it exists in a group of adjoining early 19th century French Quarter homes. Over the years, it has received numerous awards for its original design and it is easy to see why.
Each of the 31 rooms is individually decorated with period antiques and are separated into six categories from single room to Grand Suites. All have French and English antiques and pictures, personally collected by the Smiths, designer fabrics and wallpaper plus Frette bathrooms, HD TVs, IPOD docking stations and everything else necessary for modern day life.
Why we like it
A unique and unusual hotel
